Ski Program

The Eagle Mount ski program began the winter of 1991 with six participants. This group traveled 200 miles to ski at a hill that had facilities for people with disabilities. The following year, a program was set up at Showdown, the local ski area. With the help of donations, Eagle Mount has been able to purchase pieces of adaptive equipment such as bi-skis, mono skis, ski walkers, and tether lines. Over the past years, the individuals served have grown to over six times the original group. A core group of experienced volunteers form the "A Team". Each member of this team is specially trained in a different disability such as visually impaired, spinal cord injury, or developmentally disabled. The quality of the Eagle Mount ski program is greatly enhanced by this team of volunteer leaders. Through the ski program, participants gain increased ability to develop different muscles, improve their balance and coordination, and have psychological benefits of increased self-awareness, increased self confidence, and improved self esteem. They actually become part of the ski community.

Current Schedule

Pre-registration is required -

The ski list is growing each month which is great, but it also limits us on the number of ski lessons we can offer to everyone. The majority of our skiers have also signed up for Sunday only skiing. Due to these facts, we are unable to accommodate skiers who want to ski every weekend as we are working very hard to get everyone up to the ski hill.

We will try and get participants scheduled for up to 3 ski lessons. We cannot guarantee a specific number of ski sessions per skier due to the number of participants signed up and the number of volunteers available. The scheduling survey is a “survey only” and states the dates chosen to ski are not a guarantee. We will schedule skiers each week and call if we can get enough volunteers on the days skiers are available.

A few of our volunteers are able to ski during the weekdays (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).

To register please download, print, and complete and mail us or fax us the following scheduling survey. After we receive your survey we will contact you to schedule your official ski days.
