Eagle Mount Provides therapeutic and recreational activities for children and adults with physical, mental or behavioral challenges, striving to improve the quality of life for them and their families
The Eagle Mount day camp for children with physical, mental, and behavioral challenges began in 1992. Children’s Day Camp is designed to broaden the horizons of the campers, and give parents and caregivers some respite. Many different activities are enjoyed by the campers, including picnics, hikes where they are instructed in wilderness safety and environmentally friendly practices and learn about local plant life, and tours of local points of interest. Some arts and crafts are done, taking into consideration the various challenges of each participant. Camp runs during the summer months three days a week for 2 to 3 hours each day.
The Eagle Mount programs for Infants and Todders started in January 2005, now called Tippy Toes. Tippy Toes is a program that stimulates infant and toddler motor skills, teaches parents fun activities for babies, and helps develop the baby's body and brain. Parent or caregiver involvement is required in the classes. This is an opportunity for the parent or caregiver to bond, have fun, and enrich their child's life.
Gymnastics is a wonderful program that increases self-confidence, appropriate socal interaction and provides lots of fun! Gymnastics also improves balance & coordination, strength & flexibility, attention & focus, and the ability to follow directions. Toddler classes are held at Jumpers Gymnastics and the older kids (ages 6 and up) classes are held at the Great Falls Gymnastics Center.
Educational Workshop
Eagle Mount-Great Falls sponsored a very successful workshop in April. The workshop was called Movement Based Learning which is a teaching style from Cecilia Koester, M. Ed. Movement Based Learning is a way for us to begin to understand and apply the concept that movement of the body affects the integration of our brain function. Check out the website www.movementbasedlearning.com for more information on this technique. Thank you to all who attended, we hope to do it again in the future!
Pre-registration is required before coming to any of these programs. Please call 454-1449 and speak with Jill Van Son to sign up.
