Eagle Mount Great FallsAll riding instructors are specially trained and/or certified through PATH International guidelines. The program continues to maintain high performance and safety through many equine resources including PATH.
Wranglers
The Wranglers Program serves individuals (young and old) who are unable to learn to ride independently or cannot get on a horse. Our wranglers come out and groom the horses and learn to take care of them as well as riding (if capable). Many of our seniors, nursing homes, and group homes are taking advantage of the Wrangler program and love it!
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is learner-centered experiential education process with horses “teaching” us about ourselves. Horses can't over think a person’s motives or manipulate their interpretations of an individual’s behavior. Their sensitivity to nonverbal stimulus helps them read people and give physical feedback, such as pinned ears or swishing tails. The emotional “mirroring,” the innate social structure of the herd, and the fact that horses are prey animals are all part of the equine classroom.
Eagle Mount Great Falls works with participants to design a customized learning program, geared to help reach personal goals and desired outcomes. Our classes reflect insight in human, horse, and organizational behavior, group dynamics, and real life situations. The EAL program offered through Eagle Mount Great Falls is not therapy, though the core values are similar to those found in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) programs.
Equine assisted learning can help individuals better understand themselves and others through participating in activities with the horses and then discussing feelings, behaviors, and patterns. This process helps bring the horse activities from the arena back to “real life,” inviting people to reflect, generalize, and apply new insights. EAL can help participants become better team players, develop problem solving skills, improve leadership abilities, communicate more effectively, build healthier relationships, and enhance self-authenticity.

Our Horses
Eagle Mount currently houses and uses 13 horses, two donkeys, and a pony to provide horsemanship to our participants. We consider our horse crew part of our staff considering we couldn't have the equestrian program without them. They are all specially trained and cared for by our staff and volunteers - actually "spoiled rotten" would be a better description! Caring for this crew is one of Eagle Mount's biggest expenses. We are always in need of support for hay, feed, vet and farrier services, and medication/emergency services for our wonderful equine "staff". We invite anyone interested in sponsoring these magnificent animals to please call and schedule a time to come out and tour our facility and meet the horses. For more information on our horses, you may contact Val Clark, Program Coordinator, at 771-4829. Thank you!
